Neighbourhood ALERTS
Another car break-in
On the weekend of Sept. 13/08, we also had a few things stolen from our vehicle.
I had to chuckle at the realtor who said, in the last printed version of the “Clayton Voice,” that she couldn’t think of anything negative about this area!
So far in our quiet and safe neighbourhood, we have had to call the police 5 or 6 times, for numerous reasons (one incident involved three people and a weapon). And just the other night I walked out of an adjoining business right into the middle of a fight in front our friendly “Irish pub at the end of the street” — this seems to be the latest hangout for groups of teens who have nothing better to do.
IMPORTANT SCAM ALERT! Please read here
I just wanted to warn our neighbours that in our area (68th and 191st) there has been numerous amounts of vehicle break-ins. What is unique about the ones in our area is that the perpetrators are breaking in to the vehicles and using the garage door openers to open the garages and then are going into the garages and stealing items from the vehicles in the garage as well as items from the garage itself. Please alarm your vehicles, if this is not possible, please ensure they are locked and that your garage door openers are hidden. Also ensure that you lock your garages/coach houses each and every night. (August 1/08)
Please everybody,SLOW DOWN!!!!!! I was a witness to our neighbours cat being struck and killed by a speeding car last week. The driver of the car did not stop, but thank goodness a witness did stop and assist our neighbour, although nothing could have been done to save the cat. There have been numerous “close calls” in front of our place on 68th. The screech of tires coming to a rapid halt is a regular occurence and I fear that one day it is going to be a child that is seriously injured or even killed. If everybody would just slow down, and pay attention to what is going on around them, I think this would alleviate many of the potential problems that could occur. (August1/08)
Please be aware that there is a high car break-in activity in our neighbourhood. Ours was broken into last Sunday, July 20. Don’t ignore your intuition and alarm your neighbours when you see individuals scattering our streets, checking cars, etc. (it usualy happens at late night). You can expect that they will break in to one of your neighbours car ( or yours) between 3-4 am.
~About a month ago my husband and I brought our daughter to a park in a different neighbourhood. while not necessarily ‘unsafe’, it certainly didn’t have that clean, suburban ambience. While we were there, we overheard a mother caution a child to be careful as there were sometimes needles or blades maliciously left
in the sand… My husband and I automatically looked down every time our daughter took a step. Luckily, we found nothing. A week later, we brought her to the toddler park in Clayton. I often sit on the swing and wait while she plays. Imagine my surprise when I looked down and there among the bark mulch was a razor
blade (it was disposed of). I was both appalled and saddened by this.
I know that the person who left this will not be fazed by a mere note so instead I’m writing this as a word of caution to parents….

~ Just a reminder to lock up your valuables and your garages. We had our stroller stolen from our front porch on June 5th.
