On behalf of The Salvation Army Surrey I would like to extend an invitation for you to join in on our Emergency Disaster Services Kick-off Event on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. 

Through our Emergency Disaster Services, volunteers are trained and equipped to run one of our Community Crisis Response Units (CCRU) in the event of an emergency in the community.  These mobile kitchens are equipped to provide food services to relief workers and victims of disaster in the event we are called to respond. 

The Salvation Army has played an important role in disaster relief efforts in major disasters like the Okanagan fires in 2004 and at Ground Zero during 9/11, and community level emergencies like the Woodlands fire in New Westminister last July.
 
Surrey is in need of volunteers for this program, so we are presenting a new and exciting opportunity to join in.  We are inviting the community to join us in our kick-off event that would reintroduce the program and show what Emergency Disaster Services is all about.
