Volunteer Needed for Bin Keeper
When we moved into this neighbourhood one of the strange things that grabbed our attention was the lack of garbage bins in our parks. Recently through my neighbours post I found out that the City has no working force to take care of this issue. Now we can lose the only bin in the neighbourhood if nobody will replace our volunteer. I just want to thank our binkeeper for doing that and making our neighbourhood a cleaner place. Please read her letter:
“I have been the volunteer bin keeper (garbage can emptier) for the past year at the Clayton park located at 191st and 69th. I am moving and will no longer be able to fullfill my duties. This is a volunteer position that is all co-ordinated through the City of Surrey - Partners in Parks. When I called them to resign my position, they informed me that if nobody steps forward to take on the position, they will have to remove the garbage can all together as they do not have the staffing available to take on this task So…here I am putting the word out to anyone that would be interested in volunteering for this position. What it entails…during the spring and summer months, I change the garbage bag weekly, during the fall and winter months, I went every 2 weeks. The City will supply you with all the supplies needed - ie: garbage bags, key to chain lock and stickers to put on the bags for the garbage men in case you exceed the maximum amount of trash allowed on your pick up days. If you would be interested in taking on this position, please call the City of Surrey - Partners in Parks - Binkeeper program @ 604 - 501-5050 or check out their website here.
Thank you!”
